Nests on coastal tundra; level terrain, poorly drained hummocky moss-sedge tundra interspersed with numerous ponds; wet unpatterned tundra with strangmoor ridges for nesting (Parmalee et al. 1967, Andersson 1973). Nonsaline marshes for breeding, saline habitats for foraging.
